Week 31: Pasco Round 2, Hospital Adventures, and Emergency Transfers

Pensamiento Espiritual* (*Spiritual Thought)- Alma 29:9

Lunes* (*Monday) was a transfer locura* (*madness)! I sent Bernal off to the Selva in the morning, which was sad. I really loved having her as a companion. :) I stayed in San Juan with Cruz and Jaspers and did Internet, talked, and ate lunch before we got the call that my comp, Hna Rodriguez, had arrived! She's from Trujillo and was in Huanuco before, so heat and coast, the opposite of Cerro. Due to this, the altura* (*altitude) hit her HARD and she spent the rest of the afternoon resting in bed with an oxygen tank. It gave me lots of time to clean and organize everything, so productive Pday! Hopefully she feels better soon. :)

Tuesday! In the morning, we visited Josefina, investigator, and Miguel, recent convert, with the elders to give a bendicion de salud* (*blessing of health) to Miguel, then taught them about temples... and, POR FIN* (*FINALLY), Josefina accepted a baptismal date for October 8th!! :) After lunch with our new pension Yosy and Contactin, we visited our investigator Evelyn and talked about faith before going to Delma, less active, and getting to know her. We went to Luz and read her lectura before visiting our investiator Jeny G. and reading 2 nefi 31 and talking about bautismo* (*baptism). Chevere dia* (*great day). :)

On Wednesday, my compi* (*companion) took a turn for the worse and rested for the morning. We went to Iris and Iris and I carried planks of wood up hills to her house while Rodriguez followed us dying. We came back to the room after lunch and she rested some more. Pobrecita* (*poor dear). :( Luego* (*Then), we visited Josefina, investigator, and read her lectura... and she asked to move her date up to the 24th of September!!!!! :D I´m super excited for her. Despues* (*Afterwards), we visited Ada, less active, and talked about bautismal* (*baptismal) covenants. :)

Jueves* (*Thursday) was a locura* (*crazy). My compi woke up way worse and the hermana lideres* (*sister leaders) came over, called the health secretary, and we were commanded to go to the hospital. She's got low hemoglobin and shouldn't actually be in altura* (*height). GAH. After lots of tests, they mandated her to rest for a whole week and gave her tons of pills. So, we spent the rest of the day in the room resting and watching church movies. :) At night, we got a call from President saying she's getting emergency transferred tomorrow to Huancayo. :( I´ll miss Rodriguez, but hopefully she'll get better! :)

On Friday, Rodriguez got emergency transferred to Huancayo and I stayed with Cruz and Jaspers in San Juan until my new comp, Hna Vallejo, got here from Huancayo at around 2! She's quite different from all my other comps- super loud and extroverted haha. She's from Ecuador! We went to our investigator Josefina and did the pre-entrevista bautismal* (*pre-baptismal interview), which she passed!!! :) e* (*and) then went to our investigator Jeny and shared Eter 12:27 about weaknesses. :) This week's been una LOCURA. I also hit 7 months today. Time FLIES.

Sabado* (*Saturday) began with servicio* (*service)- helping Iris cook and carrying wood to entablar* (*bring) her casa* (*home)! I got a sliver. Fun times. :) After lunch, we visited a contact, Mely, that Bernal and I made 2 weeks ago! She asked us why there are so many churches and we explained La Restauracion* (*the Restoration). :) She told me that the first time we contacted her, she just had a thought that we were her sisters and she felt relieved that we came. :) When we contacted her, we passed by her house but both felt that we had to go back and contact her. The Spirit’s a pretty fantastic thing. :) We then visited a contact, Guida, and got to know her. Lots of citas* (*appointments) fell through, but a pesar de eso* (*despite that), pretty great dia. :)

Domingo* (*Sunday)! I started my llamamiento* (*calling) playing piano in the ward today (they just got a piano)!!! :) I've grown to super love these people. After la capilla, consejo y almuerzo* (*church, advice and lunch), we visited Josefina, investigator, and Miguel, converso* (*convert), and talked about perseverar hasta el fin* (*enduring to the end) and started planning Josefina´s bautismo! :) Luego, we visited our investigator Delsy and taught about the importance of scripture study before going to Delma, less active, and watching the Restoration video. :) It's been a slow and kind of difficult week, but things are starting to settle back to normal. :)

My theme for the week: Patience. Patience is the capacity to withstand problems, opposition, and suffering without becoming angry, frustrated, or anxious. It is the ability to do the will of the Lord and accept things in His timing. As Neal A. Maxwell said, ´Patience is a willingness, in a sense, to watch the unfolding purposes of God with a sense of wonder and awe- rather than pacing up and down within the cell of our circumstance.´

Alma 34: 40-41 promises us that one day we will rest from our afflictions. May we endure with patience, understanding that God knows better than we, and hope for a better tomorrow. :)

Con amor y mis oraciones para siempre jamas* (*With love and prayers forever and ever),

Hermana Schmid (*Translations made by Karissa’s mom using google translate)
