Week 51: The Force (Spirit) is Strong with This One

Listen here to this week's short recorded message from Karissa.

Pensamiento Espiritual* (*Spiritual Thought): An High Priest of Good Things to Come by Elder Holland.

Well, today was the most tranquilo* (*peaceful) P-day* (*preparation day) in a buen rato* (*in a long time)! In the morning, we had to wait in the office for a while to pick up a mini missionary, then went to Internet a bit late. Luego* (*Then), we went to the casa de Presidente* (*President’s house) and made pizza as a district, played Scrabble, went for crepes, and finished up P-day deep cleaning Hotel Tambo! :) We went out contacting with the guitar again and then went to a NDH* (*Family Home Evening) at Bishop´s house, where he taught me how to play the ACCORDION (I thought about Grandpa Stewart!) and we talked about eternal families. :) It was the greatest thing ever!!!

Tuesday! We explored, contacted, and looked for referencias* (*references) in the mañana* (*morning), then visited Hna Torres in Mariscal because she's had lots of back pain- they think it's an infected cyst. Pobrecita* (*poor dear). :( After lunch, we visited Mariela y Nayeli, new investigators, and talked to them about our purpose on Earth! :) We were sad after because two of our new investigators at church on Sunday, Adrian and Debora, fell through and Adrian has to go back to Lima. :( Luego* (*Then), we visited Paula, investigator, and Fabricio, converso* (*convert), and did a mini pre-entrevista* (*pre-interview) to see where we can help her more. :) Then we visited our investigator Antonia and talked about the importance of guardando el Dia de Reposo* (*Keeping the Sabbath Day Holy) before getting a call from the Mariscal sisters that Hna Torres is going home tomorrow. We went over with pollo* (*chicken) for them and talked. :)

Miercoles* (*Wednesday), we said goodbye to Hna Torres and dropped of Hna Jensen with a mini missionary! All of our citas* (*appointments) fell through today, so that was a bit disheartening, but we contacted lots. :) We visited a miembro* (*member), Iris, and talked to her and got a reference. :)

Thursday, I had written in my agenda ¨Start every day with a grateful heart." :) We had a district meeting on obedience and then an ensayo* (*essay), preparing the song Lead Kindly Light for Elder Montoya's mission visit! :) I wrote the alto part and it was super fun! We visited with our investigator Paula and she told us that she has prayed and received answers from God that this church is true and that she should get baptized! :D We taught her about the Restauracion* (*Restoration) and she accepted a baptismal date for Feb. 25th. :) Then came another miracle. We visited our investigator Debora and got to know her. The spirit was SO strong. Both Hna Esparza and I felt that we needed to share fe y la primera vision* (*Faith and the First Vision). The lesson went SO well and the Spirit testified. THE FORCE IS STRONG WITH THIS ONE. :D Sadly, she has to go to Lima for a few weeks. :( But she´s so golden. Like a Skywalker. That doesn´t turn bad in the end. :) Blessings.

En Viernes* (*On Friday), we went to visit the Concepcion sisters and finished up divisions* (*divisions) and did practicas* (*practices) before I left to Chupaca for divisions with Hna Duran! In case you are wondering, I called it Chewbacca the whole time and made lots of Chewy noises. It was kinda fantastic. :) We visited brilliant people and it was a good time- a break from the city of Tambo to the campo of Chupaca/Chewbacca. :)

Saturday, I came back to Tambo and we finished the Chupaca divisions! We visited Judith and Jose Luis, less actives who own a bakery, and got to know them! Next week, they're going to teach us how to make bread. :D I then taught guitar and Italian while my comp taught English for a few hours, and a new investigator, Leonardo, came and we taught him about prayer and fasting! We finished off the day with correlacion missional* (*missionary correlation meeting). :)

Fast Sunday! Our investigator , Paula, bore her testimony today. SUCH a tender mercy. :) After lunch, we visited our investigator Clelia and got to know her and her son’s friends showed up and didn't want to listen. So I whipped out the guitar and sang Come Thou Fount and they came in and listened!!! MUSIC WORKS. :D Our other citas fell through, but we finished the day visiting Antonia y Edgardo, investigators, talking about the Dia de Reposo y sus bendiciones* (*The blessings of the Sabbath Day). :)

"God doesn't care nearly as much about where you have been as he does about where you are and, with His help, where you are willing to go." Elder Holland

Well, this is the last time I´ll write you being 19! So that´s weird. Also, we have consejo de lideres* (*leaders conference) tomorrow and they’ve asked us to prepare a capacitacion* (*training) on Elder Oak's "The Challenge to Become." So my desafio* (*challenge) is to READ IT, to know that I love you all, and to know that I still love Star Wars a little too much. :)

Con amor y mis oraciones para siempre jamas* (*With my love and prayers forever and ever),

Hermana Schmid
